Jimmie Johnson is nominated for two ESPN's ESPYs- in the "Best Male Athlete" and "Best Driver" categories.
CONCORD, N.C.—Voting is underway for the 2011 ESPYs and Jimmie Johnson has been nominated for Best Male Athlete and Best Driver.
Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet, is the five-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup champion. He finished the 2010 season by earning nine straight top-10 finishes on his way to a record-setting fifth title. In the Best Male Athlete category, he is competing with tennis player Rafael Nadal, NBA forward/center Dirk Nowitzki (Mavericks) and NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay).
Johnson’s competition in the Best Driver category includes NHRA’s Greg Anderson and John Force as well as Dario Franchitti, of the IndyRacing League.
Fans can help determine the winners by voting online at one of three sites: ESPN.com/espys, facebook.com/ESPN as well as on ESPN Mobile Web at http://espn.mobi. Voting will run from now until July 9.
The ESPYs will be televised live at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN on July 13.
